Women @ Accso – Nora Poel
Who are you and what do you do at Accso?
I'm Nora and I started at Accso a good 1.5 years ago as a full-stack developer specialising in the frontend. Over time, I've been able to take on more and more project management tasks. I appreciate the fact that I can combine my passion for programming with project management - and I am active in the community of the same name. I am also part of the women's advancement network, where I promote the exchange of women in IT and organise regular lectures.
Tell us about your educational background
I started my bachelor's degree in geosciences in Halle an der Saale. I found the degree programme a little lacking in puzzles and challenges, which is why I took additional courses in the Bachelor of Computer Science from the third semester onwards. This enabled me to complete my Master's degree in Computational Science in Potsdam. I spent time in France for both my Bachelor's and Master's degree, where I also wrote my Master's thesis.
What is your technological focus?
My technological focus is primarily on front-end development with React. I like the fact that the results of the implementation have a direct influence on the UI. TypeScript is also a fun programming language. In some projects, I also work on backend development with Java and Spring Boot.
Which project was special for you during your time at Accso?
For me, all projects have been special so far. Every project brings new challenges and situations to grow personally and professionally. I like the variety in the projects and the opportunity to take on different roles in different projects. One project at a large insurance company is particularly memorable. We continuously adapted and improved our cooperation and work processes in our team over time, which led to a fantastic atmosphere in the team and a high level of cohesion.
