SDG 16

Peace, Justice and strong Institutions

Persistent and new violent conflicts around the world are derailing the global path to peace and the achievement of Goal 16. Alarmingly, there was an increase of more than 50 per cent in conflict-related civilian deaths in 2022 – the first since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda – due largely to the war in Ukraine.

What contribution can IT solutions make?

IT solutions can help to improve transparency, accountability and efficiency in public institutions. Digital systems for managing and monitoring government processes can combat corruption and facilitate access to legal and administrative services. In addition, IT-based platforms can promote dialog between citizens and government to strengthen democratic processes and ensure access to justice and human rights for all.
