What contribution can IT solutions make?
IT solutions can help to improve transparency, accountability and efficiency in public institutions. Digital systems for managing and monitoring government processes can combat corruption and facilitate access to legal and administrative services. In addition, IT-based platforms can promote dialog between citizens and government to strengthen democratic processes and ensure access to justice and human rights for all.
Our criteria for an SDG project "Software for a better world"
16a - End violence and abuse:
The project supports governments, cities and organizations in ending violence and abuse, for example, through proactive education, support in organizing these initiatives or in educating victims, as well as in the physical and mental care of victims.
16b - Stop organized crime and illegal gun ownership:
The project supports organizations, cities and governments in stopping organized crime, preventing illegal weapons possession and enforcing regulations that pursue these goals.
16c - Prevent corruption:
The project helps to prevent corruption, for example by transparently preparing processes and data, automating or digitizing them, or promoting education.
16d - Ensure justice:
The project supports people in enforcing their rights and defending themselves and third parties against crime and injustice, for example by providing information, lawyers, aid organizations or social workers or by improving the provision of relevant processes.
16e - Issuance of basic documents:
The project supports governments and cities in ensuring that everyone has an appropriate amount of legal identification documents so that they can access basic citizen services.
16f - Operational support for third parties:
The project supports companies and institutions, as well as other organizations such as aid agencies or associations, in implementing their SDG goals by supporting employees in their daily work and simplifying, accelerating or introducing business-relevant, SDG-related processes.
