SDG 7

Affordable and Clean Energy

Our daily lives depend on reliable and affordable energy. At the current rate of progress, around 660 million people will still have no access to electricity by 2030, and almost 2 billion people will continue to depend on polluting fuels and technologies for cooking.

What contribution can IT solutions make?

IT is responsible for a large proportion of global energy consumption. This makes it all the more important to develop green and energy-efficient software solutions with GreenIT approaches in the future and to support computer-aided projects in the renewable energy sector.

Our criteria for an SDG project "Software for a better world"

7a - Ensure universal energy access:

The project supports universal energy access by providing information, subsidies or procedures or in any other way, or contributes to making energy more affordable.

7b - Enhance renewable energy:

The project promotes the use of renewable energies, either directly by supporting alternative and sustainable energy producers or indirectly, by providing information, funding or procedures, with the aim of increasing the use of renewable energies.

7c - Increase energy efficiency:

The project aims to actively reduce energy consumption in the company and thus produce fewer emissions or switch energy consumption to renewable and sustainable energy sources.

7d - Research in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energies:

The project supports research institutes and other organizations in their research into renewable energies or in increasing efficiency in energy production or optimizing energy consumption.

7e - Operational support for third parties:

The project supports companies and institutions, as well as other organizations such as charities or associations, in implementing their SDG goals by supporting employees in their daily work and simplifying, accelerating or introducing business-relevant, SDG-related processes.
