What contribution can IT solutions make?
We cannot prevent hunger with software, but we can ensure that food is produced more efficiently or more cheaply, that less food is wasted and that people who suffer from hunger can obtain food cheaply or free of charge.
Our criteria for an SDG project "Software for a better world"
2a - Support for charities, organizations and food sharing initiatives:
The project supports making free food more easily accessible, distributing it, or publicizing distribution points.
2b - Supporting agricultural productivity:
The project supports small farmers, fishermen and other professional groups in poor areas to increase their productivity and thus produce food more efficiently or effectively.
2c - Preserving the genetic diversity of plants and animals:
The project assists in preserving, cataloging or making widely available the genetic diversity of seeds, crops, as well as domesticated animals.
2d - Resilience of agriculture to disasters and extreme weather:
The project supports agriculture in implementing resilient processes that improve soil quality, plant quality or crop quality or protect against disasters and extreme weather.
2e - Price stability for food:
The project supports making food cheaper or free of charge or helps to stop food price inflation.
2f - Operational support for third parties:
The project supports companies and institutions, as well as other organizations such as aid organizations or associations, in implementing their SDG goals by supporting employees in their daily work and simplifying, accelerating or even introducing business-relevant, SDG-related processes.
